Each of the ten segments focuses on a different theme, as follows: Activating Prior Knowledge; Assessment; Class Time Management; Communicating with Parents; Grouping to Support Learning; Literacy, Language & Math; Manipulatives; Planning and Preparation; Teaching in Contexts; What to Try Next. The series is based on contributions from a team of ten Mathematics teachers from across Nova Scotia, from Digby to Sydney, and representing all three focus grade levels. Each segment demonstrates their best practices through both interviews and live, unrehearsed sequences from actual classes. Together, the series segments are intended to support effective teaching of the Nova Scotian Mathematics curriculum throughout the junior high years.
